Jean Lurcat

Jean Lurcat (1892-1966) was a French painter and tapestry designer. He was known for his surrealist landscapes influenced by his travels in Spain and the Sahara and also by the Cubist movement. He developed some of the finest tapestries in the world combining severe design with rich colour.
Examples of his work can be seen in the Jean Lurcat Museum of Contemporary Tapestry in Angers, France.
