Bruno Gambone

Bruno Gambone (1936-) was the son of the master ceramicist Guido Gambone and initially gained experience in his workshop. In 1963 he moved to the United States where he was a painter and sculptor meeting Roy Lichenstein, Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. He returned to Italy in 1968 to the world of ceramics where he won many awards and exhibited at the prestigious Venice Biennale on numerous occasions. At his best his work has a charming and whimsical quality. Often abastract in form he creates from an inanimate substance animal sculptures possessing a character and life force of theoir own.
